“I’m in this big a** coat from that thrift shop down the road…”
Sometimes life is a Macklemore song, ya’ know?
About a year and a half ago, while perusing the racks at the Goodwill up the street, I saw this crazy mass of fur mixed in with the other jackets. And when I say crazy, I do mean CRAZY. It was big and fluffy, but when I put my hand on it, instead of being nasty acrylic, it felt soft. Like real fur. Now when Goodwill gets jackets like these, they normally price them in a range that I won’t pay because, well I have no place to wear a fur jacket. But this time? This was the tag:
I knew in my heart that this coat was real fur, but had no idea why it was priced at $7.49. Then I looked at the inside of the coat. First, I noticed the tag that said it was 100% acetate; of course, I knew that tag was referring to the lining of the coat, but what someone had failed to look at, to REALLY look at was the other tag-the faded one that said the jacket was from “Koslow’s – the most trusted name in Furs”.
I quickly snatched that jacket off the rack and shoved it in the cart because I thought for a moment someone might come rushing out of the back and yell “STOP-we accidentally mis-marked that really expensive coat!”. But no one did and I quietly took it to the front to pay for my little piece of heaven. That lovely gem then went home with me and hung in the back of one of our closets until I remembered it was back there after seeing this picture (you know, a fashion power-house rocking a cool furry fur jacket).
I figured the only way I would ever be able to wear this jacket out and about was to either A) wear it to a fancy dinner in the winter (hahaha) or B) on Halloween. So out for Halloween it came!
Of course, when you’re out wandering around with two toddlers, the high heels that I would have liked to have worn with my favorite skinny jeans just weren’t going to work. So the strappy moto-style boots got to come along, which are another one of my favorite thrift finds as of late.
And the purse? Certified vintage Fendi. I love that bag with a big portion of my heart. Found it on eBay about a year ago and that was what I carried until the strap started to tear. I love that purse. Super love.
I just have to show my new bracelet from Cathryn Ann Designs . She was so kind as to make a silver bracelet with a maroon tassel for me to wear so that I am supporting my Arizona State Sundevils at all times (which of course, played last night and walloped Washington State WOOT!).

So herein lies a bit of a dilemma- do I keep the jacket (which I think is fabulous), or do I sell it in the second Etsy shop that I’m opening in a few weeks? I can’t decide…let me know what you think pretty pretty please!!
Oh, and just for fun? Linking up with Pretty, Shiny, Sparkly even though my coat is NOT a wool one ;)
